The view from our apartment is spectacular and breathtaking in the morning. Here are some photos Evan snapped at 6:45 last week, just as the sun was coming up (If you click on them, they'll appear bigger and even more beautiful)!
We were just in awe, and even though our building smells like strange food most of the time, the 14th floor sure has some perks!
Last week, Evan took part in the Halifax Critical Mass, where bicyclists from all over the city come together and ride through the HRM together. Only about 40 bikes turned out this year, but in the past there have been over 100! Here are some shots:

Evan had a lot of fun, and said it was really cool for so many bikes to come together and just...ride!
In other news, Jackie was recently elected the Co-Chair of the student chapter of the Special Libraries Association, huzzah! She is also a member of the Peter Green Hall Board of Directors, and still has no clue what that really means. Evan will find out hopefully this week if he will have employment within our building, and we are crossing our fingers and trying to remain optimistic.
Jackie's parents visited this weekend, arriving Friday night and leaving Sunday morning. We had such a nice time with them, and it made Jackie a little homesick, but it was also nice to move on and get the apartment back in order. We toured around Halifax for a bit, doing a bit of shopping and then visited/had dinner with Jackie's Uncle and husband. After that, we came back to the apartment and had a bit of birthday cake, in honour of Jackie's dad's (and mom's very belated) birthday. Evan also serenaded him on the ukulele, and Jackie sang a strange and new version of Happy Birthday.

Yes, that is a Korg 7 octave, real touch keyboard, and we are absolutely in love with it. We finished off the evening with Jackie hammering out some classic Meatloaf, Beatles, and attempting some Rocky Horror Picture Show tunes! This keyboard was a very early Christmas gift from Jackie's parents, which we are so grateful for because now Jackie has a fun, educational hobby, and we also think it makes the room look smarter...
That's our life so far. We are keeping it together and taking life day by day. Next week the Phinney side of the family will be paying us a visit for Thanksgiving, so that should be fun!
Happy Autumn everyone! Enjoy those warm sweaters, the apple cider, and the 26 degree humidity! (Oh wait, that's a Halifax thing...)
